Throwback Thursday

This picture was taken in 2020 at the George Washington Bridge overlook in New York. That weekend I traveled to NYC specifically to take pictures of the GWB, the Statue of Liberty, Coney Island, the Brooklyn Bridge from the top of the Manhattan Bridge walkway, and a couple of sunset pictures from Top of the Rock at the Rockefeller Center.

It was a lot of fun to travel all over New York to photograph those locations. Just for fun, last night I created this AI caricature of the same picture. Enjoy !!!

Cementerio San Jose de Villa Palmeras, visitando el panteon de Ismael Rivera (el Sonero Mayor) en Santurce. Ese dia tuve el honor de ser invitado por Afrika Clivilles y Norma Salazar (QEPD) (Folklorista, Teatrera, Declamadora, Pintora, Escritora y Profesora) a participar en un homenaje con musica en el cementerio de Villa Palmeras para celebrar la vida de Ismael Rivera. 

Entre algunos de los presentes con Norma Salazar (QEPD) se encontraban, la vedette Lourdes Chacon, algunos musicos del grupo de Bomba y Plena de Norma llamado Plenibom, Afrika Clivilles, y este servidor.

Throwback Thursday - 2012 NHRA Atco Raceway

Looking at this picture reminds me of those days when I ate, slept, rode, talk, breathe, dreamt, lived, and loved motorcycle racing.

Sometimes when I look at these old photos it transports me to a different time and place. They trigger great memories; my friends that were there that day, what we did, and even what we ate. Which is why I love scanning and digitizing old images. Time passes so quickly, to remember is to live again. 😀

Throwback Thursday

This picture is a throwback from my first year trying to learn photography quickly; basically going into photography full time. As you know, practice makes perfect. To reach my goal I traveled to New York City almost every other weekend to sharpen my learned skills. It's been a fascinating journey from which I hope to continue to grow and improve my photography.

Memories of Mom In the 50s - Throwback Thursday

This is a picture of my mother in the early 50's, long before she married my father. She is the skinny one in the center wearing a long white dress, and wide belt.

When I look at old pictures, I try to pay attention to people's fashion. I think fashion always comes back, it never goes out of style. To me they all look cool wearing elegant clothing.

Too bad mom is no longer with us, and I am unable to ask questions about these timeless pictures. I would love to hear stories of where they were going, and anecdotes of those events.

Throwback Thursday

This is the same model bike I owned when I was 19 years old. My first street bike, my first love, a 1972 Kawasaki 750 triple.

In 1979 I sold my bike for $650 dollars. Selling my old bike is one of my life biggest regrets. Same motorcycle in good running condition now sell for around $15,000 or $20,000 dollars. In hindsight, I wish I've never sold mine. So now everytime I go to a vintage motorcycle show, and I see one of these bikes, I take a photo with it and wish it was mine. 

The first two images were taken in 2014; the third image was taken last year at another vintage motorcycle show. 

Throwback Thursday

Recently, my significant other sent me a picture from the 90's. We were at her sister's home celebrating New Year's eve.

The woman in the picture is my former sister-in-law; she passed away seven years ago. She was a wonderful compassionate woman and a loving mother.

Excuse the picture low resolution, my significant other texted the image after she took a picture of the original pic with her cell phone.

As you can see, at that time I was still a drinker and was holding my favorite drink, Grand Marnier on the rocks. For the record, I quit drinking alcohol on my 40th birthday. This year marks 25 years sober and I couldn't be happier.

Throwback Thursday

This picture was taken in 2001 from Camden, New Jersey waterfront, across the Delaware River. This is the same location of the New Years Eve fireworks. Twenty years ago, I used to be more active, ride my bicycle everywhere, and go dancing every weekend.

Throwback Thursday

This picture was taken in 2015, my first year getting into digital photography. When I bought my first DSLR, I used to walk around armed with my camera looking for places to photograph. I had no idea what I was doing but that didn't stopped me from trying. With so many historic buildings in Philly, photo opportunities are abundant. 

A good thing about photo walks is that even if my photography sucks, I get a hell of a lot of exercise. This particular day I got up early in the morning and took a few pictures inside UPenn University, the college grounds were completely empty thanks to the holidays. There was nobody there, therefore I had the place to myself. 

All by myself; this phrase just reminded me of one of my favorite songs = All By Myself by Eric Carmen. 

Happy Throwback Thursday!

At the time the picture at the end of this post was taken, I was probably around 5 years old. It's been so long. To be honest, I don't remember much of those times. This is a picture of my sister and I, sitting on my father's car.

I haven't been here long enough, but I don't remember seeing people posting nostalgia pictures from a different era of their lives.

I miss my childhood. Those were the best times of my life. All we did was eating, sleeping and playing. We enjoyed every moment without thinking about what was going to happen. Mom was always there when we needed her. She is sorely missed.

Too bad I don't have many pictures from childhood. Maybe this post will inspire me to scan and digitize some old negatives and pictures I have saved in a box. Bringing some of my old images to digital hopefully will allow me to restore old pics to use in future Throwback Thursdays!
