Today Is My 70th Birthday

So, this is 70. Like most folks turning 70, I never expected I would be here. I can't believe how fast life goes by. Seventy years, it literally went by in a blink.

I am celebrating my 70th birthday without a party, I honored the occasion with a scenic day trip to NYC, by focusing on an intimate, quiet dining experience with myself in New York doing things that I truly enjoy.

Later today, I would be engaging in my favorite hobby at the garage with the motorcycles. To me, the little things are the ones that matter, like spending the afternoon changing oil and filter on my motorcycle and making sure the Ninja is ready for the upcoming riding season. I also went out on a shopping spree for colorful and vibrant clothing; the color clothing that enhance my personal style.

My 70th birthday is a milestone worthy of a quiet celebration, focusing on gratitude, family and my small circle of friends. This coming week I would be reflecting on 70 years of life and focusing on what truly matters. Happy birthday to me. 😀

That's Just My Luck

The week that I am supposed to start cleaning out the garage, a hurricane decided to make landfall in Florida.

Now we are expecting rain most to the week. Hurricane Debby could bring 6 or 7 inches of rain around Philly each day this week. If it's any consolation, at least I am not in a high risk flood prone area.

Lots of destruction and flooding when Hurricane Debby landed in Florida this morning, including several people who lost their lives. Debby could dump up to 18 inches of rain on parts of Florida and North Carolina through Saturday.

Now the question is how far north Hurricane Debby travels.

Tales From The Garage

Planned to visit my bike at the garage but it began raining last evening. The poor bike has been hibernating for too long.

Depending on the weather tomorrow, I may decide what to do. The bike is due for its annual wash but what's the point of taking it to the car wash if its raining? I am hoping that drier weather get here by the end of the week; I like to keep my motorcycle looking good all the time.

Sweep The Cobwebs Away

After today, the temperature will finally rise to the 40's and 50's, and the rain will stop. Time to get the cobwebs out of the garage.

Who knows, maybe I could squeeze in a short ride before the weekend. With our unpredictable temperatures, I'll take any good weather I could get. Right now, I'll be happy to just sit back and enjoy the ride. 

Tales From The Garage

Spring is just around the corner. Went to the garage where my bike is stored, to change oil, filter, check brake and clutch fluid levels and install the battery. During winter season my bike's battery sits in my apartment kitchen connected to a battery tender.

My bike has been hibernating, sitting in the garage since last October. Haven't even started the bike all winter, I haven't checked it in several months. It's still cold outside, here in Philly the cold weather is still lingering. I hate cold weather with a passion. We are in mid-March and now there's talk of more snow sometime next week.

I received a rent increase notice from the garage landlord yesterday. Personally, I feel the rent increase is unreasonable since he hasn't made any property improvements to the unit in seven years. Besides, he shutoff power to all the garage units in 2013 after half of the storage facility caught fire. I was fortunate that the section where my bike is stored was not affected. He is lucky there is no other motorcycle storage facility in the city, totally monopolizes the storage units market in Philadelphia. 

Depending on the weather, tomorrow I will be changing the rear brakes. Ordered the rear pads last year before the Dragon trip just in case I needed them. I don't want to have any issues when I visit Toronto, Canada this summer. 

Planning ahead and proper maintenance to my bike before I leave on a trip is a must. I would rather be safe than sorry.
